St Georges Building Survey & Soil Testing
In October 2024 a building level laser survey and soil testing were undertaken by TMK Engineers to determine the structural stability of St Georges. The results are that "the extent of damage to the building [is] not of an immediate structural concern"however the site "should be stabilised by reducing the future potential for moisture variations within the reactive founding soils" This includes the installation of gutters and stormwater drainage (as noted in the 2017 Heritage Condition Report) and "the potential removal of significant vegetation".
Images from 2023 Emergency Repairs
In 2023 pigeons broke through fragile slate and established a colony intside the roof along the ridge of the nave. This opened a hole into the church through which slate fell. The church was closed for over a month while the decorative iron capping was removed and replaced with temporary Colourbond.
